A portrait of Bruno S., who became famous as Kaspar Hauser actor in Werner Herzog’s film “The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser” (Jeder für sich und Gott gegen alle) and was forgotten much too quickly.

Through his role as Kaspar Hauser in Werner Herzog’s film “The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser” Bruno S. – whose life had long taken place in homes, psychiatric institutions and homeless asylum – became known as an actor in Europe and America in 1975. Finally Bruno seemed to have succeeded in breaking out of his shadow world. But his quick and short fame was followed by long years of loneliness in which he tried to remain true to his art as a backyard musician and painter.
